Santa Maria Foods

Santa Maria Foods manufactures and sells Italian deli and grocery products.

Santa Maria Foods (“Santa Maria”), based in Toronto, is Canada’s largest provider of authentic Italian-style deli meats, including mortadella, prosciutto, dry-cured salami and pre-sliced deli meat, which it sells under the brand names San Daniele and Mastro. In addition, Santa Maria is the exclusive Canadian importer of several leading Italian specialty food brands including Lavazza, the leading Italian coffee brand, and San Benedetto, the leading Italian mineral water brand, and a variety of olive oils.

Wind Point acquired Santa Maria in January 2007. Our value creation plan for Santa Maria includes investing in manufacturing capacity expansion, increasing customer penetration in markets outside of Ontario, Canada, and completing opportunistic add-on acquisitions. Santa Maria has completed one acquisition during Wind Point’s ownership.

Wind Point acquired Santa Maria in partnership with CEO Fred Jaques. Fred was most recently President of Dare Foods, a private, family-owned food manufacturing company. Prior to Dare Foods, Fred was President of Interbrew/Labatt North America ($2.0 billion P&L) and previously spent 13 years at the Kellogg Company, where he held several senior positions including President, Kellogg Canada and General Manager-Cereal, Kellogg USA ($2.5 billion P&L).
