Co-Founder
Bob Cummings

Bob Cummings joined Wind Point in 1987 and was part of the leadership team that transitioned Wind Point from an investment firm primarily funded by the S.C. Johnson family to an institutional private equity firm. Beginning in the 1990s, Bob was instrumental in establishing Wind Point’s current investment strategy and developing the firm’s first group of Executive Advisor Partners. Bob was also responsible for recruiting and mentoring Wind Point’s current leadership team.

Prior to joining Wind Point, Bob was a general partner at Robertson, Colman & Stephens (“RCS”), a San Francisco-based investment banking and venture capital firm.  Prior to joining RCS, Bob was an independent business consultant for small, venture capital-backed companies in southern California. This activity followed approximately four years of consulting with McKinsey & Co, where he primarily consulted large technology-based companies in the area of operations, marketing, and management of research and development.

Bob is a BSME graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School.  He also served for five years as an engineering officer and line officer in the nuclear submarine force of the U.S. Navy prior to attending Harvard.

In addition to providing counsel and assistance to the Wind Point team, Bob has acquired an interest in one of the finest golf courses in the Southeast. He is working hard at shooting his age before he reaches his 100th birthday. Bob and his wife Annette are also very active breeding and racing thoroughbred horses and have enjoyed very rewarding success despite the diminutive scale of their stable. Bob resides primarily in coastal Georgia.
